Pony School & Summer Camp

New Pony Barn and dedicated arena- now accepting students!

Pony School

At DK-USA the pony school will teach all aspects of safe horsemanship to your child.  Children will learn care of the ponies, from basic handling to advanced riding. The beginners will be taught all the basic skills of handling the pony such as leading, grooming and bathing as well as more advanced skills such as braiding, lounging, and tacking up their own ponies to go for a ride.  Riding instruction will focus on safe horsemanship and all the techniques to become a skilled and efficient rider.  We introduce the young riders to the show arena starting with local shows first to assess what they are learning and help the children reach their goals.  These local shows are scheduled throughout the summer and the fall.

If you are ready to purchase a pony we will be delighted to help select the proper pony for the riders capabilities. We always have a large selection of ponies for sale.

DK-USA is conveniently located in Durham, five minutes from Duke University, 15 minutes from UNC, and 20 minutes from RDU.

If you want the absolute best instruction for your child and care for your pony, please call to schedule a tour.

Summer Camp

Give your child(ren) the summer camp of a lifetime.  Let them experience the joys of horses and horseback riding.  Children ages 6 and up will learn riding and horse care in a beautiful, safe environment.

Weekly sessions available beginning June 16, 2008.  Camp is held from 7:30 am to 1pm Monday through Friday.   Contact us for the summer schedule.

Each day will include mounted instruction on safe, experienced ponies and horses.  Unmounted lessons on horse care ranging from grooming to feeding and horse show preperation will round out the total horsemanship experience.
